If you’ve been practicing the techniques you’ve picked up on your makeup courses using some products from Claire’s, you might want to think again as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed the presence of asbestos in three items sold by the company.
Tests show asbestos presence in three Claire’s products – Claire’s Eye Shadows Batch No/Lot no 08/17, Claire’s Compact Powder Batch No/Lot No 07/15, and Claire’s Contour Palette Batch No/Lot No 04/17.
The organisation has asked Claire’s to recall these products because they’re unsafe for consumers to use but the company has apparently thus far refused to comply and the agency doesn’t have the authority to mandate a recall.
“We are dependent on manufacturers to take steps to ensure the safety of their products and we are calling on manufacturers to improve their oversight for risks such as those we’re identifying today. Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics manufacturers and retailers bear critical responsibilities in assuring the safety of their products,” a statement read.
It’s always worth checking to see what your products contain, as you certainly don’t want to cause any harm to your clients when they come to get their makeup done.
