By now you’ve probably heard of both CBD and hemp oil – it’s hard to escape them given how popular CBD oil has become in recent months.
While both products are derivatives of the cannabis plant, they are different and it’s important to understand how they differ to make sure you buy the right one for your needs. Luckily, the Inquirer in the US recently shared a helpful article highlighting the differences between the products.
Hemp oil, for instance, is produced by applying pressure to hemp seeds. The unrefined oil that’s produced is used as a dietary supplement, because it contains omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
CBD oil, meanwhile, is produced using specific hemp and cannabis strains. Its key differentiating factor is that it contains cannabidiol and it’s this substance that’s been credited with treating a range of conditions and providing pain relief.
The news provider pointed out that there’s evidence to suggest CBD oil can be effective as an antidepressant, to help treat anxiety and in some forms of epilepsy it can help reduce the number of seizures someone experiences.
In fact, two-year-old Jorja Emerson became the first child in the UK to be prescribed CBD oil to help with her seizures. She suffers from 30 seizures a day and her parents were granted permission to use the oil to treat her condition. They were hoping that, within six weeks, she would be off her other epilepsy medication and not suffering from seizures. It’s also been suggested that the best CBD oil available in the UK can be effective at providing pain relief for some people too.
