Establishing a solid skincare regime is essential if you want to maintain a healthy, youthful glow for as long as possible and you’re sure to already know which products you love and which really give your skin a treat each day.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep an ear to the ground when it comes to the latest health and beauty trends doing the rounds, just in case there’s something that appeals to you particularly and which you think your skin is likely to respond to.
One of the biggest beauty trends to have emerged in recent weeks is, of course, CBD – or cannabidiol – products. CBD is taken from the hemp plant, from the marijuana plant family, but because hemp doesn’t have a significant amount of THC (the psychoactive ingredient) you won’t experience the same effects as you would from marijuana.
Your skin will benefit in a variety of ways through the use of CBD-based products and you may well see a reduction in inflammation, improvements in your acne if this is what you suffer from and it could even help with the likes of eczema and psoriasis… so certainly worth trying out if you have been suffering in this regard.
We’re also likely to see a rise in tech-driven personalised skincare, so expect to hear from all the big name brands in the near future, all of whom are likely to begin offering even more personalised skincare options to their customers.
Some companies are making good use of online quizzes to find out more about their customers and their skin types, which allows them to formulate their products in such a way as to address specific skin problems.
Apps are also now being used to help people develop their understanding of their particular skin types and it’s likely that we’ll see this with increasing frequency this year and beyond.
Something else to start doing a bit of research into is ampoules and how they can be of benefit to your skin. These are airtight shots of very concentrated skincare products that should, apparently, leave your skin feeling tighter, bouncier, firmer and more supple after just one use – so certainly worth a try if you have been feeling a little lacklustre of late.
Remember, however, that ampoules have higher concentrations of active ingredients like glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid so you perhaps shouldn’t use them all the time, instead turning to them for a bit of a boost or if your skin has flared up in some way and you want to regain control.
And then, of course, there are HiFu treatments for your face and neck, which have been growing in popularity over the last few years. HiFu stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound and is used as a non-surgical way to enjoy a full facelift or target specific parts of your face to reduce the visible signs of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your complexion a lovely warm and natural glow.
You’re able to see a real difference in your skin immediately after your treatment but after two or three weeks, you’ll really notice a significant change in the quality of your skin.
Non-ionising waves are subjected deep into your skin to activate the production of collagen, a less harmful procedure and one that doesn’t require any downtime afterwards – so you can get back to living your life, confident that your skin looks beautiful.
You can also use it on other parts of your body if you have any other problem areas you’d like to tackle, such as your arms, stomach, thighs and bottom. Depending on the collagen production of your skin, you may need to repeat the procedure after 12 months or so, but some people may not need to come back for another procedure for more than two years.
